Theda Bara
THEDA BARA, who has recently returned to the screen after a long retirement, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1890. She entered pictures direct from school and immediately became the most sensational star of her day, creating the famous vampire roles that have since been copied with little success by many other players. "A Fool There Was," one of her first outstanding successes, was quickly followed by "Carmen," "The Tiger Woman," and "Cleopatra." Throughout her career, "Kathleen Mavoureen" was the only picture of note in which her role was not the vixen type. Miss Bara was recently married to Charles Brabin, the director, whom she first met while both were working at the Fox studios. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 135 lbs., and has dark brown hair and eyes.
