Lionel Barrymore

LIONEL BARRYMORE, born in Philadelphia, Pa., on April, 1878, brother of John and Ethel, and son of the great Maurice Barrymore, made his stage debut in "The Rivals" in 1893, and there have been few men in the history of the American theatre who have equalled his record. Perhaps his outstanding achievement on the stage was his splendid performance in "The Jest," in which he and his brother John were starred together. Like that of his brother his screen work has been irregular, as most of his time was devoted to the stage, where his colorful personality and magnificent character depictions have won him enduring fame. Although a keen student, he is a splendid athlete, being an unusually fine wrestler. He is tall, well built, and has dark hair and eyes.
