PRISCILLA DEAN was born in New York City, and received her education in the schools of that city. When very young Miss Dean was a member of Joseph Jefferson's company while that great actor was starring in "Rip Van Winkle." Her mother was an emotional actress of considerable note at the time. Miss Dean was once known as a dancer and owes her start in pictures to D. W. Griffith who selected her while viewing her dancing act. She began her career at the old Biograph Studio. The call of Hollywood was so strong that the enterprising young lady ventured to the Pacific coast where she began work in a series of comedies. Lois Weber elevated her to stardom and her rise to fame was immediate. She is an enthusiastic golfer and stands just 5 feet 4 inches in height. She weighs 135 lbs., has brown eyes and is the wife of Wheeler Oakman, prominent leading man.
