Pola Negri
POLA NEGRI was born in Bromberg, Poland, on January 3rd., and received her education in Warsaw. Her parents decided for her that she was to become an actress, and at 17 she became a pupil in a dramatic school in Warsaw, and so accomplished was the youthful Pola, that she completed the full three years course in less than half time. She made her debut immediately after in the Polish capital, and later played again in that city where she remained until the World War activities drove her from the city. Turning her versatile talents to the screen she wrote, directed and acted in a picture of her own, following this with a screen version of "Du Barry" which when shown in America, under the title of "Passion" brought her lasting fame. Her recreation is derived from riding her horses, and she is 5 feet 4 inches in height, weighing 122 lbs., and having black hair, and hazel eyes.
