Henry B. Walthall

HENRY B. WALTHALL was born in Shelby County, Alabama, on March 16th., 1878, and in youth removed to Colorado, where he received his education, and when 18 years old, launched himself upon a stage career. He made his first screen appearance in 1910, and reached stardom when pictures were still considered as a novelty. Later his work in D. W. Griffith's "The Birth of a Nation" brought him lasting fame. The artistry of his every screen characterization is among the fondest memories of both former and present day motion picture "fans," and he is beloved by all who know him because of his charming personality. Mr. Walthall took an active part in the Spanish-American War. He then studied law for a few months but gave it up to appear in stock. He is 5 feet 7 inches in height, weighs 130 lbs., and has gray hair and brown eyes.
