MARY PHILBIN was born in Chicago, Ill., on July 16th., 1904, and received her education at the famous Hyde Park High School in that city. From earliest childhood this sweet little star aspired to theatrical honors, and during her school years was always a leading figure in school and church entertainments. Together with Gertrude Olmstead, she was chosen a winner in a Chicago newspaper popularity and beauty contest, and as part of the prize was offered a chance to appear in Universal pictures. From that day to this she has worked steadily on the screen, winning greater popularity, each new effort proving her possessed of rare emotional powers. She is 5 feet 2 inches in height, weighs 100 lbs., and has dark brown hair and gray eyes.
