LLOYD HUGHES was born in Bisbee, Arizona, on October 21st., 1897, and was educated in California, attending high school in Los Angeles. While a student at the Polytechnic High School, he was a leading spirit in amateur theatricals, and his success as an amateur prompted the young man to apply to the studios, where in 1917 he finally secured work as an extra. Thomas H. Ince gave him his first real opportunity, and his success is an indication of the late Mr. Ince's keen judgment. Mary Pickford has used Mr. Hughes as her leading man. He is married to Gloria Hope, herself a screen player of great ability, and they have a charming home in Hollywood. Mr. Hughes is an ardent motorist, enjoys golf, and is rated as a hiker of great endurance. He is almost 6 feet tall, weighs 155 lbs., and has brown hair and gray eyes.
