The Toaster's Handbook was compiled by Peggy Edmund and Harold Workman Williams and published by the H. W. Wilson Company in 1914 — this is the revised second edition, which added a whole section on toasters, toastmasters and toasts.

Its arrangement is the point: topics run alphabetically from ABILITY to the end, so a man handed an unexpected toast could find something to say about whatever subject the evening had produced.

The humor is that of 1914 — vaudeville dialect jokes very much included — and it is left exactly as printed, with editor's notes where the language has not aged well.
