MARY ALDEN was born in New Orleans, La., on June 13th., and received the major part of her pre-professional education in Montreal. Miss Alden is one of the greatest of screen actresses, having created many splendid roles. Hers is a versatile art, she being able to portray age or youth on the screen with equal ease. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Art and owes her first screen appearance to D. W. Griffith. She is the proud possessor of a splendid library and in her earlier days essayed to become a writer serving on national newspapers in the capacity of reporter. Miss Alden is one of the best educated women on the screen. She is able to give to her screen portrayals a rare intelligence and she possesses great emotional powers. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 130 lbs., and has a fair complexion with black hair and green-blue eyes.
