Ernest Torrence
ERNEST TORRENCE was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on June 26th., 1878, and was educated at the Edinburgh Academy, and the Stuttgart Conservatory in Germany, and made his first public appearance as a musician. Following a tour of the continent, Mr. Torrence came to the United States and made his debut on the American stage in musical comedy, appearing with considerable success in the role of a comedian. Next he was cast for one of the "heavies" in Richard Barthelmess's "Tol'able David," in which he made a tremendous hit. Though by nature, one of the kindliest persons imaginable, he makes the most villainous of screen characters, and has won great success in such roles. Mr. Torrence favors hiking and tennis playing as an off-screen recreation, is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 200 lbs., and has brown hair and brown eyes.
