The Croquet Target

Is an amusing variety of Croquet. It consists of eight hoops set in a row, with a peg in the middle. The players shoot at this target at about 15 yards. If the player hit the peg he counts 9, if he goes through the hoop next it 7, and so on, the player who misses the target altogether having 5 subtracted from his score. The player who hits a wire without going through a hoop counts the intermediate number; thus the wire between hoops 7 and 5 counts 6.
