Thrilling Adventure of a Little Boy.

UST before the breaking of a terrific storm at Louisville, Ky., a little boy named Abe Dix, only ten years of age, got into a heavy yawl, and with the idea of a pleasure ride to Two-Mile Island, on the then smooth surface of the river, pushed boldly out into the stream.

The ungainly boat at first seemed quite under the little fellow's control, and his progress was watched with considerable interest by a number of persons on shore.

Further and further rode the unwieldy craft, when suddenly it was swept into the swifter current, and darted away toward the Louisville falls with the fearful impetus given it, and the poor boy at once lost all control of it. Trembling with fright, the little mariner stood the only object to be seen upon the broad expanse of water, and waited for the terrible moment which he believed was soon to see him either dashed to pieces upon the rocks or carried beneath the rapid roaring river.

To make bad matters worse, the big storm was about to burst, and to those on the shore there appeared little hope of saving the child by any means short of a miracle.
