LEATRICE JOY was born in New Orleans, La., on November 7th., and from early childhood evinced a keen interest in things theatrical. At the Sacred Heart Academy in New Orleans where she attended school, she was ever the leading spirit in the school plays. Fortune favored Leatrice when a local company was formed to make films in New Orleans. Her charm and grace immediately made her eligible for a trial, and ere long she was cast in serious roles. Preferring a career to the round of gaieties which were her privilege because of her membership in the southern social set, Miss Joy has made steady progress as an actress. Considerable effort is reflected in the rise of Miss Joy to stardom, as she met with many disappointments in her search for a career, after her arrival in Hollywood. She is 5 feet 3 inches in height, weighs 125 lbs., and has black hair and large brown eyes.
