Comfort Peace

We are to do this for various reasons. It would be sufficient to say that Jesus has commanded us to do so. "Search ye the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life." John v. 39. No book has been searched as the Bible has, from its origin to the present time. Foes have searched it with evil designs, but it bears their severest criticisms. Friends have searched it with sincere motives, and have found in it a response to all their longings and hopes. How it rewards all who search it. It offers light for their darkness, and truth for error. It kindles hope in the soul, comforts it in sorrow, and reveals the way of salvation. Its teachings thrill the soul with joy, and lead to the precious boon of peace, here and hereafter. Search it, young and old. It is able to make us "wise unto salvation." "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitaable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: "That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Tim. iii. 16, 17.
